Prof Sanni Lateef, is currently the ED/CEO NSPRI Ilorin. He was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta from 7th November 2017 to November 6, 2019, Dean, College of Food Science and Human Ecology, FUNAAB, 1st August 2014 till 6th November 2017, Head of Department of Food Science and Technology, FUNAAB from 1 August 2011 to 31 July 2013, Director of A.G. Leventis Memorial Centre for Learning (LEMCEL), FUNAAB from August 2007 to 31 July 2011 and Deputy Director, of the Centre for Human Resources Development (CENHURD), FUNAAB in 2007.
World Bank Facility for Academic Staff of Universities to the Natural Resources Institute, Kent, UK in 1995 and International Foundation for Science Sweden in 1997 launched Prof Sanni Lateef as a leading contributor to multi-million-dollar projects on cassava for over 2 decades.
Sanni served as the Country Manager for Nigeria in a Five-Country project, Cassava: Adding Value for Africa II (CAVA and CAVA II) hoisted in the Natural Resources Institute of the Greenwich University, Maritime, UK, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria sponsored by Bills and Melinda Gates Foundation from May 2008 to 31 March, 2019. He also served as the Leader (Food Processing and Value Addition), Centre of Excellence in Agriculture and sustainable environment for the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Resource Person, World Bank Sponsored Project titled “Upscaling the Nigerian Flash Drying Experience for Sustainable Regional Trade and Income generation in West Africa” (Ghana, Benin Republic, Sierra-Leone, Nigeria); He was the Country coordinator and leader of Improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
He was also the Postharvest Scientist to IITA Integrated Cassava Projects from 2004-2007. Prof Sanni was the principal Investigator, Food Developers Initiative sponsored by Association of African Universities in Nigeria, Benin and Sierra Leone since 2008-2010 and Food Science and Nutrition Network in West Africa, March 2010-Aug 2011 under the sponsorship of Association of African Universities/UK DFID.
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology and Institute of Management Consultants (Nigeria). He is an Honorary Fellow of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi. Sanni was inducted as Member of the Institute of Public Analyst of Nigeria on the 21st of April 2015. He was an editorial board member of the International Journal of Food Science and Technology from 2005 to 31st July, 2015 and is currently serving as reviewer to so many international journals in the world.
He won the 2008 Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Award Regional Technology Development in Sub Saharan Africa (http://www.cgiar.org/newsroom/scientific.html); Outstanding Award-2006 Academic Accomplishment by Junior Chambers International, Abeokuta, Gateway Hotel, Abeokuta, Nigeria and the best Oral Presenter Award at the 7th African Crops Science Conference organized by African Crops Science Society, Entebbe, Uganda, 5-9 December 2005.
